In the Beginning God Created…

Gen. 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Artists, musicians, and writers create in their media and use canvas and paints, notes and instruments and words to craft their works. Additionally, all their works are built on a foundation of those preceding them. God, on the other hand, created everything with no materials and had no precedent to guide Him. As I said last month, God conceived of the creation in His mind before He began the actual work, and with God the conception was almost as if it were the reality because what He conceived of came to fruition as soon as He encoded it.

God is as good as His name, or rather names; therefore, when we know God as the Creator, we have a special understanding of His true Nature. Let us then begin our pursuit of Who the Creator is and how He created all.

The Foundation of the Creation

God created the world by the command of His word, by the breath of His mouth. Science discovered that energy gives the appearance of matter, but what looks and feels solid is really stronger or weaker force. Looking for the ultimate basis for this energy or force, science has thus far missed what the Bible reveals, which is the power of God’s spoken command, “Let there be light.”

Psa. 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath [ruach-also spirit and wind] of His mouth all their host.
Psa. 33:9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

So, the underlying power of the atom and universe is the breath of God, which fascinatingly has encoded God’s unity, oneness, on all of the energy forming matter. (Schroeder, The Hidden Face of God) Thus, science concurs with the Bible that says, “Hear O Israel the Eternal is One.”

What foundational power God’s breath must hold that He could speak, and out of nothing, create the entire universe contained at first as a blob an inch or so in diameter. His Spirit or breath undulating over this small mass exploded it out until it reached, today, the dimensions and complexity we now observe.

Gen. 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Gen. 1:4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

As noted in previous issues, the Word of God is not a single word but His Language encoded by His breath or Spirit. So God did not say one word to create light, but spoke the entire sentence or command. So no matter how we look at the creation and the Creator, we see Language spoken by the power of God’s breath or Spirit.

Language Intrinsic in Nature

Just as God created the world by His Word, the world not only responds to His Language, but is in constant communication with itself. There are any number of examples: planets and the sun respond physically by gravity and electromagnetic force; particles with atoms constantly respond to each other, just as atoms react with other atoms to form molecules, which in return interact. Of course, these simple interactions constitute the most basic of communication, yet valuable to understand how basic language is to the creation – stimulus, response, and, all this in supposedly non-living components of creation.

Science is baffled by the fact that atoms and molecules can form together in such a manner to create life, even “simple” life of single cell organisms. But, the Living God created these building blocks from His Language, and I suspect something of a kind of life might exist in what is not considered alive, just because God created it by His Words. Nonetheless, within cells communication becomes far more complicated involving chemical and electrical response across the cell and its environment. Here stimulus-response reaches a highly complicated and sophisticated communication, but still without the usual components of language: sound systems, words and grammar. But encoding, channeling and decoding make cellular communication part of IT.
When multi-cellular organism appeared, cells then communicated to other cells as well as reacting to its internal and external environments. Each, again, is connected to one another or all other cells within the organism by chemical and electrical channels. The chemical and electrical complexity within these simple cells held together by communication is amazing. The scale of complexity increases, seemly, geometrically as the organisms become larger and more complicated while the basic nature of the cells remain pretty much the same. The interaction of organisms to other organisms extends communication beyond the internal until we get to mammals, which, though not having true language the way we use it, have a more highly evolved system of communication including sounds and “body language.” Thereby, mammals are more capable of some sort of herd or pack relationships, which needs communication to succeed.

Thus, God created the world by language, for language, and of language – to paraphrase Lincoln. Human communication is God’s ultimate achievement.

Rom. 1:20 From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.

God Created Adam

We all know God formed Adam from the red clay of the earth and breathed into him the rauch of life, which made man a sentient being capable of using language. Obviously, God created man in His image as the God who speaks, the God of Language and Words. We know the IT of language, but each individual language of the earth has its own vocabulary and grammar, which marks it as unique. While languages evolve over time within linguistic laws, these languages came from God, who at a point in time found it necessary to prevent all earthlings from being of one language to their detriment and consigning them to their own regions and languages.

Gen. 11:9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth.

Considering the brain and mind (a spirit thing separate from the material part of the body), the formation and use of language is simply astounding. In spite of tens of billions of neurons comprising the cerebral cortex, which virtually enables close to infinite synapses, how the brain stores and locates information still is not completely understood. It is almost like chaos, with bits of information here and there and pathways running almost erratically all over the place. But, it works in any language including the languages of music and mechanics. The amazing complex being a person is must rate second compared to the complexity of a person’s language capacity.

Psa. 139:14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.

And the effect of language on physiology is also astonishing.

Science has discovered things like Type A personalities can cause disease, but the Bible notes that a gentle word can heal.

Psa. 107:20 He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
Prov. 16:24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

We are enslaved or freed by our language beyond health and disease concerns. While Jesus had the words and body language to heal, the world essentially has words that harm. What if we could restore our minds to the time before the fall, and reintroduce the language of Truth and health into our beings? God has given us this Language if we are willing to use it.

The Language of Wisdom

The essence of God’s Language is His wisdom, which is the spirit of God’s way of thinking unlike the ordinary thought processes of people. No deception, no misconceptions exist in wisdom, just those thoughts of justice, mercy, love, fruitful living and creativity.

God created the world with His unique code or stamp upon it, as Schroeder also says, which He calls wisdom, and through it brought everything into proper existence, not perfect, but proper. Some expect the creation to be perfect, but where does that leave room for growth due to adversity, for learning with iron shaping iron. Without an Earth faltering, seemingly, where would people get a chance to help others in need and without a conditions of life going awry, where would people get a chance to learn to respond the way God would and wants us to.

We learn the Language of God, not man, when we begin to use wisdom by fearing God and all that entails from being in abject awe to trembling at His authority and power, just as Job did after God spoke to Him and asked the righteous Job where was he at the creation. Wisdom, the perfect adaptation of God’s Language, is everywhere to learn from because God encoded everything with His Wisdom, His perfect Language. Does not wisdom go crying in the streets, does not wisdom utter truth in the gates? Again, God’s eternal nature and love are found in His Creation as the author Romans points in the first chapter. Much of wisdom is found in the books of the Bible, particularly Proverbs, Psalms, Job, and Ecclesiastes. But, here I can only point us to the fact of God’s Language as the essence of creation.

Prov. 8:23 “From everlasting I [wisdom] was established,
From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.
Prov. 8:24 “When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no springs abounding with water.
Prov. 8:25 “Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills I was brought forth;
Prov. 8:26 While He had not yet made the earth and the fields,Nor the first dust of the world.

In order to begin to learn the Language of God, a person must learn to distinguish between the language of deception from Satan given to the entire world and God’s. A person cannot correct faulty thinking without being able to recognize the errors compared to the Truth. How else can one depart from evil? A person, of course, must want to repent from evil and turn toward good, and even then, it is difficult to give up those ideas from Satan and the world because these evil ways encrust a person’s mind from the wisdom God created to lead a person to Him.

As the power of God’s voice descended on the Mount revealing the Law in reverberations greater than thunder, we see that God’s programming humans for language has brought a great dividend, that of a personal relationship with the Creator and Ruler of the Earth by way of knowing the Laws of His Kingdom, the Way of life, and the beginning of moral wisdom, that is, how to fear God

Psa. 104:24 O Lord, how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all;
The earth is full of Your possessions.

Prov. 8:26 While He had not yet made the earth and the fields,
Nor the first dust of the world.
Prov. 8:27 “When He established the heavens, I was there,
When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
Prov. 8:28 When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became fixed,
Prov. 8:29 When He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not transgress His command,
When He marked out the foundations of the earth;
Prov. 8:30 Then I was beside Him, as a master workman;
And I was daily His delight,
Rejoicing always before Him,
Prov. 8:31 Rejoicing in the world, His earth,
And having my delight in the sons of men.

Job 28:28 “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding.’”

If the creation does not inspire awe of the Creator, and yes, fear and trembling at His Power, certainly His creation and Word (Language) inspire trust in His love and integrity. He freely offers people the words of wisdom to create within people a godly mind.

Listen to the Word of wisdom:

Prov. 8:1Listen as wisdom calls out! Hear as understanding raises her voice!

Prov. 8:34 “Blessed is the man who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at my doorposts.
Prov. 8:35 “For he who finds me finds life
And obtains favor from the LORD.

Wisdom defines itself both in words and deeds and promises a better life, if not eternal life to those that find it.

Prov. 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Prov. 2:7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

Prov. 8:4 “To you, O men, I call,
And my voice is to the sons of men.

Prov. 8:6 “Listen, for I will speak noble things;
And the opening of my lips will reveal right things.
Prov. 8:7 “For my mouth will utter truth;
Prov. 8:8 “All the utterances of my mouth are in righteousness;
There is nothing crooked or perverted in them.
Prov. 8:9 “They are all straightforward to him who under-stands,
And right to those who find knowledge.
Prov. 8:10 “Take my instruction and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choicest gold.

Prov. 8:14 “Counsel is mine and sound wisdom;
I am understanding, power is mine.

A little of this power is revealed by Jesus when he wrought miracles and healed. A lot of the power was revealed when Jesus gave up his life so we could live by faith in him. A lot of the power was revealed when God resurrected the first born of many brethren.

God made our minds and brains to receive His Language and Wisdom. When people introduce an alien language from Satan, the human mind becomes confused, uncertain, deceived and contaminated by evil and the destructive consequences therein.

God Encodes His Word in His People

From the wisdom of conception and birth to the resurrection from the dead, God is instilling Himself into the minds of believers, who experience God’s creation from the outside world and from the inside insight into His Word (Language).

Is. 55:11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Is. 55:12 “For you will go out with joy
And be led forth with peace;
The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you,
And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

He gave the world the example of Jesus who is the living Word of God and who exemplified the wisdom of God in word and deed. To those who follow in Jesus’ way, he helps them in every way into the Kingdom of God.

Eph. 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
Eph. 3:10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.
Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

The power and wisdom of God demonstrated by His Language is freely given to all who trust Him enough to obey Him and believe in the Lord, Jesus.

Conclusion

God has not walked off to some obscure corner of heaven and let the world and people fend for themselves. Indeed He is involved with His Creation and His Creatures, made in His image.

Eccl. 11:5 Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things.

Jer. 10:12 But God made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. He has stretched out the heavens by his understanding.
Jer. 10:13 When he speaks, there is thunder in the heavens. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.
Jer. 51:15 He made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. He has stretched out the heavens by his understanding.

Neither does God neglect His greatest creation who by His Language and Spirit are ever with Him

John 14:16 “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
John 14:17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
