At all times and in all places, people have invented gods, things or people to worship instead of the Eternal God. The rich and powerful worship and love money and dominance. Rulers, whether they call themselves kings, despots, presidents or premiers, worship riches and power as they assert despotic authority over the people. However, the gold gods leave their worshippers in dire strait as their lives often end badly. Saddam Hussein, for example, was found hiding in cellar and subsequently executed. Other people worship the sun, Earth, science or super stars. In past times, those “religious groups” call their god, the only god, and the gods people worship today morphed from ancient gods to fit these times, as Nimrod became Amen Ra leading to Zeus, Jupiter and Gaia, or mother Earth. Gods became saints and heroes. Traditional Christians still believe, as did the ancients, a man can be born of a god and become a god-man or man-god, thus making him part human and part god, existing from the beginning of time. All the traditional gods, from the sun-god to the zodiac gods and Nimrod, Zeus and Baal, did not exist before the creation because they are found within the creation. Whether people worship other gods because they are ignorant or just rebellious, who can say. Scientists, today, worship the creation and find ways to discount a Creator. One example, today, are some scientist who insist that there are many universes out there, which have no beginning; thus, they say, there is no God in the beginning who created because there was no beginning. These claim a created universe is eternal not the Creator. Matter and energy are their gods. However, there is a difference between provable science (the scientific method) and consensus (unprovable) science. Scientists, nonetheless, cannot conceive or explain the unbelievable complexity of life and its amazing interrelationships with other life and all of nature (atmosphere, water and sunlight) necessary to maintain and promote life, much less prove how life began without a Creator. God is not a human being, and He, alone, created all things. See God Is One. Most importantly, God created people in His image, and when humans achieve righteousness through the sacrifice of the man, Jesus Christ, God will give them eternal life so they can be like their Father in Heaven. Psa. 90:2 Before the mountains were born birth: 2342. l…wj chwl, khool; or lyIj chiyl, kheel; a primitive root; properly, to twist or whirl (in a circular or spiral manner), i.e. (specifically) to dance, to writhe in pain (especially of parturition) or fear; figuratively, to wait, to pervert:—bear, (make to) bring forth, (make to) calve, dance, drive away, fall grievously (with pain), fear, form, great, grieve, (be) grievous, hope, look, make, be in pain, be much (sore) pained, rest, shake, shapen, (be) sorrow(-ful), stay, tarry, travail (with pain), tremble, trust, wait carefully (patiently), be wounded. In spite of consensus science, the creation demands a Creator. When God told Abraham to look at the stars, he knew he could trust God because he perceived God’s Nature in nature. But the last thing science wants is a Creator and will do everything it can to “prove” there is none. Rom. 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. God does not give understanding of Him to all people but only those who “sync” with Him. He lets them use other programs and computers because their minds preclude any sympathy with God’s mind. Early believers accepted God because of what He did for them: releasing them from slavery and bringing them to a new land; that is, passing over from evil to good. The truly perceptive can observe what the ways of evil do to people and seek the opposite (good). Deut. 4:35 “To you it was shown that you might know that the LORD, He is God; there is no other besides Him. Deut. 4:39 “Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other. God inspires those, who can be, to reveal His Message of Who He is. Again and again, they expound God’s eternal Nature caused by His Eternal Goodness and Lovingkindness. God is everlasting because His Perfect Nature can never end. Evil has its built in destruction, but Goodness and Lovingkindness can only promote life, is the essence of life. Is. 43:10 “You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, Jer. 10:10 But the LORD is the true God; The Eternal God is Eternal Love, which must create, and create things in the Nature of Love. So God must endure as well as His creation, albeit in an eternal form. In the beginning God created the Earth. God established and fixed the Earth and crafted the heavens with His eternal hands. Yet, God made the heavens and earth of temporal material, and it would age like an old shirt or dress. Psa. 102:25 “Of old You founded the earth, Further expounding on God’s eternal love and power, the prophets states the He does not tire like humans because He is made of sterner stuff. His eternal intellect remains so far above people’s that they will never catch up, no matter how carefully they examine the physical world. Is. 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? We need God, the eternal life giver, but God does not need anything a person can do or try to do for Him. Unlike pagan deities, who must have, at least, people’s obeisance to exist, God has all and needs nothing else. Is. 66:1 ¶ Thus says the LORD, The Eternal God only ardently desires to provide life and life more abundantly, and He wants those made in His image to partake of His love and live forever. Is. 41:4 “Who has performed and accomplished it, Is. 43:13 “Even from eternity I am He, God compares in human terms the difference between people’s time in the physical realm to God’s in the eternal world. Since, aside from the ∞ infinity symbol, a human mind cannot conceive of eternity, so God gives people a reference which is more comprehensible, a thousand years. Psa. 90:4 For a thousand years in Your sight The nature of the Eternal God prevents His vacillating or even lying because He is not a man; therefore we can be assured that His Word stands anchored, true and eternal. Num. 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Dwelling Place In another sense, we cannot conceive of steadfastness, shall we say, of an Eternal God, so the Bible uses the analogy of a rock, like, say, granite. When a person desires to participate in understanding and walking in God’s Way, He protects His People as if in “fortress” as a “shelter.” These verses help us to comprehend the incomprehensible. Psa. 71:3 Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; Psa. 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Indeed, when God’s Word fills a person’s mind, we say He dwells within a person, but actually, since God is Eternal, the reality is that a believer dwells within God because our minds cannot fully comprehend God. Deut. 33:27 “The eternal God is a dwelling place, Psa. 90:1 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. The Extent of the Eternal God When we discuss who God is, what His names are, these appellations grow out God’s Eternal Nature. He created us, thus He fathered us because He brought us into being. Nothing can change that fact; so He is Our Father in Heaven for all eternity. 1Chr. 29:10 So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Because God is the Eternal One and created the world out of His Nature and man in His image, He sits on His throne in heaven and judges people on the basis of His Law, which is also embedded in the creation, and the potential of the people He breathed the breath of life into. Psa. 9:7 ¶ But the LORD abides forever; God’s judgment is grounded on and resonates with His righteousness, which permeates the universe. Furthermore, the Eternal God remains faithful to His promises and covenants of life and life more abundantly. Deut. 32:4 “The Rock! His work is perfect, From His Eternal Nature growing out of His lovingkindness, God guides people into the Ways of their Father and Creator for their eternal good. With goal of giving people the character needed, He ardently intends to give those who will let Him eternal life filled with love. Psa. 33:11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, When the skies thunder, the sound hints at the voice of God encouraging all to walk with Him into eternity. Psa. 68:33 To Him who rides upon the highest heavens, which are from ancient times; Praise God Praising God using His Eternal Name provides a powerful way to properly communicate a person’s adoration of the Creator. Abraham sets an example of praising the Eternal God. Gen. 21:33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God. Indeed, Our Father in Heaven told Moses to instruct Israel how to understand and praise God’s Eternal Name just as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knew. Ex. 3:15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. The Eternal God, no other, rules in heaven above and the Earth beneath. While He wants people to ardently desire to enter His Kingdom, He does not force them because their loyalty would not emanate from their own hearts but out of fear or possible gain. Those that know understand His Kingdom must last eternally because God is Eternal. In praising God, believers must include in their adorations words attesting to His Eternal Nature. Ex. 15:18 “The LORD shall reign forever and ever.” Psa. 145:13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, When we speak the Truth, the Truth becomes stronger in our hearts and minds and, furthermore builds faith. Psa. 92:8 But You, O LORD, are on high forever. God’s throne firmly embedded in His creation will never disappear; but evil rulers will die and disappear forever. As well noted, God’s righteousness has His staff of sovereignty for ever, from the beginning into eternity. Psa. 93:2 Your throne is established from of old; Psa. 45:6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; Just as we are drawn into God’s World to live on forever, His Eternal Word shines His light on His Way we follow. Psa. 102:12 But You, O LORD, abide forever, When God’s Creation gives us joy, we deeply appreciate His Eternal Nature. All God creates echoes His majesty even as the symphony of nature praises His Nature. All the world as seen through eyes of wonder and understanding enlarges our faith and trust in Him. Psa. 104:31 Let the glory of the LORD endure forever; Psa. 111:3 Splendid and majestic is His work, Is. 26:4 “Trust in the LORD forever, God reminds people that He remains the only Eternal God, no other God, or half god, exists beside Him. The very creation provides everlasting evidence, as well as His Word, that God has always been and will always be the Singular Supreme and Eternal God. Is. 44:8 ‘Do not tremble and do not be afraid; 1Sam. 2:2 “There is no one holy like the LORD, Psa. 135:13 Your name, O LORD, is everlasting, Praise God! In the Image of God Having formed man from the clay of the earth, yet made in His image, God planned from eternity to have His sons be like our Father in every way. However, we know that people are material beings and must first become eternal in heart and mind before the body can change to resemble God as well. He promises His People eternal life and the gateway to gain that goal. Hab. 1:12 Are You not from everlasting, People must wrestle with major temptations like pride coupled with the love of money to be free to love God and those made in His image. Eternal love cannot abide by these deceptions, which must be repented of. Several scriptures make this quite clear. Is. 57:15 For thus says the high and exalted One Psa. 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; Is. 66:2 “For My hand made all these things, Is. 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Col. 1:15 ¶ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. God demonstrates His Eternal Love by providing all the things for physical and spiritual life to all on Earth. Matt. 5:45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Just as God always provides for mankind, so also must those made in His image continue always to do good, if they want eternal life from the Eternal God. Rom. 2:7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; God commands all people through out the ages to believe and seek Him in order to obey the laws of love called the Commandments Rom. 16:26 but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; Conclusion 1Tim. 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. Amen. Gil Kovacs, Sabbath Christian Church |
