The Great Temptation |

God gave those made in His Image great promises beginning with life and ending with eternal life. He gave the means to obtain these goals. Most often people want to gain the best for themselves at any way or any cost, taking the easy way. This attitude leads to the The Great Temptation She wanted to be wise, know good and evil and live forever. That is what was promised. God said, to get all they wanted, they only had to not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. No big deal, not to eat something or is it? Look at people today. Gen. 3:4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! The serpent lied. Death took hold of her, and she died from her sin. He wanted the promise of being the one who would have progeny of millions. All he had to do was to hang in there with Sarai. However, they had to wait and wait and wait. Few have the patience. Gen. 16:1 ¶ Now Sarai, Abram’s wife had borne him no children, and she had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar. Later, he had to attempt to sacrifice Isaac. God adopted Jesus and planned to have him rule the earth for Him. All he had to do is be true to his high position and suffer a little, well, an awful lot and be sacrificed in an excruciating way. Almost all people always want the easy way out. Satan knows weakness and use it to tempt people. Matt. 4:8 ¶ Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; Luke 4:6 And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Luke 4:7 “Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.” Matt. 4:9 and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” |
