People like to save in various ways: money in the bank, precious goods like jewelry or paintings, stocks, bonds and property. None of these is a safe investment: money becomes devalued, jewelry or paintings can be stolen or be depreciated, stocks and bonds vary wildly but seldom increase very much due to inflation and other factors and property loses its value, becomes old and needs repairs all the time, land must be maintained at a cost, furniture also suffers from age as well. Others spend what they may need later. This kind of obvious wisdom is available to all who care to consider it. But there is greater value available to people. What value?

Prov. 3:15 She is more precious than jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her.

Prov. 8:18 “Riches and honor are with me,
Enduring wealth and righteousness.
Prov. 8:19 “My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold,
And my yield better than choicest silver.

Prov. 16:16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.

Prov. 23:4 ¶ Do not weary yourself to gain wealth,
Cease from your consideration of it.
Prov. 23:5 When you set your eyes on it, it is gone.
For wealth certainly makes itself wings
Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.

Eccl. 2:11 Thus I considered all my activities which my hands had done and the labor which I had exerted, and behold all was vanity and striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.

Job 28:12 ¶ “But where can wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding?
Job 28:13 “Man does not know its value,
Nor is it found in the land of the living.
Job 28:14 “The deep says, ‘It is not in me’;
And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’
Job 28:15 “Pure gold cannot be given in exchange for it,
Nor can silver be weighed as its price.

Prov. 11:4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
But righteousness delivers from death.

Deut. 30:11 ¶ “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.
Deut. 30:12 “It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’
Deut. 30:13 “Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’
